"By the river on the bank of it, on this side and on that side,
shall grow every tree for food, whose leaf shall not wither,
neither shall the fruit of it fail:
it shall bring forth new fruit every month,
because the waters of it issue out of the sanctuary;
and the fruit of it shall be for food,
and the leaf of it for healing (medicine)."
Ezekiel 47:12
What a blessing it is to use the plants, flowers and herbs that Abba has provided for us to use in order to help our families stay healthy ~ many of which can be found growing abundantly in our very own yards! Take a close peek next time you take a garden stroll.....you may be surprised at all the free medicines growing in your own yard such as dandelions, plantain, chickweed, etc. (Be sure to properly identify all plants before consuming).
Most of us have a first aid kit in our home containing basics such as bandages, antiseptics, etc. I'd like to share a few ideas with you to help you develop your very own Herbal First Aid Kit using herbs and plants from Abba's Pharmacy :-)
First, keep all your items in one place. A shelf in a cupboard or a basket kept in a closet are good examples. Be sure everyone knows where it is located. :-) Herbal products should be kept in a dark, cool place to ensure their freshness when needed. Label all your items carefully. Make certain your herbals that are intended for EXTERNAL USE ONLY are clearly marked, and be sure to date your products. Since other family members may have occasion to use your kit, make certain you have carefully labeled your herbal products with good instructions for use.
Be sure your kit includes all the items you normally might need for common first-aid type situations as well as your particular family's health care needs. It is so wonderful to have what you need on hand, when you need it! Be prepared!
The following suggestions are for a small family, say a family of five consisting of 2 adults with 3 children, who live an active lifestyle. Be sure to include remedies for bumps and bruises, scratches/cuts and wounds, poison oak/ivy, insect bites, bee stings, etc.
HERBAL SALVES
A salve
containing herbs such as St. John's Wort,
calendula, Plantain and
comfrey

rashes and other owies.
Goldenseal~all purpose
KLOSS' HERBAL LINIMENT
(labeled for External use only).
This is a
powerful disinfectant.
ALOE VERA
(Bottled gel or plant).
This is good
internally or externally.
It is very soothing for
cuts, wounds, minor burns, poison oak.
Internally for
constipation.
**Do NOT use Aloe if you
suspect a staph or Strep infection.

ONE OUNCE OF EACH OF THESE
POWDERED HERBS FOR MAKING
POULTICES, COMPRESSES, AND CAPSULES
Be sure to have empty vegetable caps and a capper for making your own herbal pills:
Goldenseal or barberry
Valerian
Cayenne
Comfrey root
Echinacea
Slippery Elm
**Don't powder the herbs until you need them as they will lose much medicinal value as soon as they are exposed to air through oxidation. If you DO want to powder some in advance, be sure to store in a dark place, away from heat and light as these too will break the herbs down quicker and they won't be as effective.

large cotton bandages, standard Band-Aids, gauze,
bandage tape, ace bandage and safety pins.
Other items you may wish to include would be
scissors, baking soda and Epsom salts.
Of course, you can add or delete as your family's needs change. I think it is most important to have medicinal salves, herbal powders and tinctures available at ALL times. Many of these items can be found in your kitchen cabinets as regular cooking spices, such as honey for burns or insect bites, Apple Cider Vinegar for poison oak, hives, stings, varicose veins; Fennel for gas and colic; sage for sore throats and colds.
I pray Yahweh's richest blessings upon you
as you look to Abba's natural
medicines
for supplying your families health needs!!
