WHAT IS HEALTH?

What does it mean to have good health? Do you feel that you are currently experiencing good health? According to Webster's Dictionary health is defined as: The condition of being sound in body, mind, and spirit; especially having freedom from physical disease or pain; and a flourishing condition. I think for many of us, we don't know what it feels like to be healthy anymore.

To be healthy means that after a good nights rest you wake up full of energy and ready to face the day. This means that at work or play you will not experience fatigue. After exercise your body will recover quickly. Your body will constantly be eliminating toxins and waste products from your system and it will be able to repair cells, thus preventing dis-ease from getting a foothold in your body in the first place.

We need to remember that health is not only the lack of dis-ease, but experiencing energy and flourishing vitality as well. Can you recall the last time you had abundant energy to do all that you needed and desired to do?

I believe that Adonai, our Creator, has provided everything we need for our well-being, our pleasure and our health through His Word, whole foods, herbs, fresh air, sunlight, essential oils, etc. I also believe that there is a place for allopathic (conventional) medicine, such as for emergency type situations. However, when it comes to treating every day ailments and dis-ease conditions in the body, as a whole, conventional doctors are still not *getting it*, in my opinion. They treat the body by focusing on trying to stop the symptoms that are manifesting, rather than the root cause of those symptoms. We can't expect to get well, or show improvements, when our body is regarded by the allopathic medical profession as a conglomerate of chemicals that need to be acted upon with pharmaceutical drugs (more chemicals) in order to force the body to respond in the manner they would like. I don't beleive that is Abba's best or how He designed the body to heal itself.

Herbalist's and Holistic practioners take a different approach to healing.......we realize that the body was designed to repair itself if given the opportunity and the right conditions. When symptoms appear, this is actually the body's cry for help indicating that it needs something, or is lacking something. So natural healers seek to provide what the body needs/lacks in order for it to be able to repair itself. This is usually approached via proper nutrition for cell health, gentle cleansing with herbs, body work in the form of therapeutic massages, aromatherapy using pure essential oils, prayer and meditating on the Word of G-d, and other healing modalities, if necessary.

When a properly functioning body is provided with good nutrition from organic, whole, living foods as Adonai designed for our body along with a health-promoting lifestyle, we will find that we'll have enough flourishing energy and vitality to meet all our daily needs. We will be blessed with energy for work and recreational activities, clarity of mind, being able to hear the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit); and an overall feeling of well-being. I believe that this is possible for anyone and with very little out-of-pocket cost to us. We must eat anyway ~ why not eat from the abundance Abba provides for His children? All that is needed is time and patience. An investment of time to study and educate yourself in the right way to care for your precious body/temple that you have been given by the L-rd. Patience as you wait on the L-rd's timing for healing to take place in your body. There is no quick-fix. We didn't get to this place of dis-ease overnight and the body can't self-repair overnight. May Adonai bless and lead you, dear one.
